Low Level Interventions: 5,4,3,2,1

The '5-4-3-2-1' technique is a simple yet powerful grounding exercise designed to pull you out of overwhelming thoughts or flashbacks and bring you back into the present moment using your senses. It works by systematically engaging each sense: you consciously identify five things you can see around you, four things you can physically feel (like the chair beneath you or the texture of your clothes), three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste. By deliberately focusing on your immediate sensory input, you interrupt anxious thought loops and anchor yourself in the reality of your current environment.
